About University of North Alabama  
   
University of North Alabama (UNA), located in the city of Florence is the first state funded institute of higher learning in Alabama and was established in 1830.  The University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award bachelors, masters and education specialist degrees. It has separate and additional accreditations for its Colleges of Business, Education and Nursing and Allied Health.
 
UNA has been selected as a “Best Buy in Higher Education” by U.S. News and World Report, due to its excellent academic reputation and relatively low cost. City of Florence is ranked as one of the top safest cities in the United States according F.B.I. Crime reports.
 
UNA offers over a 100 different undergraduate options, concentrations and majors. At the graduate level it offers the MBA with different specializations that helps prepare the students for a well paying professional career upon graduation. Graduates with 15 years of academic education can also apply for the MBA programme.
 
UNA has approximately 6000 undergraduate students and 700 graduate students. It has currently about 800 International students. The International student community is drawn from over 60 different countries and are given a warm welcome at UNA.
 
The Campus is extremely compact with the Library, teaching rooms, student union building, campus book shops, computer facilities, personal tutors, student study support, audio - visual services, finest fitness facilities, and infirmary. and other facilities all within easy reach.
 
International students can work part time on campus up to 20 hours a week while pursuing their study at UNA.
 
Upon graduation, all international students have the opportunity to work in the US for one year. This is referred to as the OPT (Optional Practical Training) by USCIS. The University conducts job fairs and provides many other forms of assistance to help international students to find employment for the OPT.
