About Arkansas State University

Arkansas State University (ASU) was founded in and located in the picturesque city of Jonesboro. Today the University is one of the largest in the state and a leader in teaching and research. ASU has been named one of the “Hot 100 Wired Colleges” in America.

The ASU campus is home to about 10,500 students from more than 40 states and 50 countries and more than 57,000 alumni. ASU boasts a student-faculty ratio of 18 to 1; and average class size of 28 allows students to work closely with faculty.

Students enrolled at ASU may select from 160 undergraduate or 75 graduate fields of study. ASU offers associate’s (two year), bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees through its eleven academic colleges. ASU’s exceptional multinational faculty serves as both teachers and advisers to their students.

At the graduate level ASU offers the MBA in General Management and other master’s programs with different specializations that help prepare the students for a well paying professional career upon graduation. Graduates with 15 years of academic education can also apply for the MBA programme.

The 800 acre campus is beautiful, safe and convenient. The recently completed Student Union houses a food court, a well-equipped fitness center and the finest film auditorium in the region. ASU’s performing arts center hosts theatrical and cultural events throughout the year. The nearest international airport is in Memphis, Tennessee which is about 80 miles away from the University Campus.

International students can work part time on campus up to 20 hours a week while pursuing their study at ASU. The Office of Career Services assists students in locating on-campus employment during their enrollment and professional jobs after graduation.

Upon graduation, all international students have the opportunity to work in the US for one year. This is referred to as the OPT (Optional Practical Training) by USCIS. The University conducts job fairs and provides many other forms of assistance to help international students to find employment for the OPT.
